The Balance Room September Newsletter

Hi friends, it’s Fall! As I write this, I think we’re experiencing The Perfect Fall Day. High 60s. Sunny. Everyone has a pep in their step & a light sweater over their shoulders — a certain je ne sais quoi, if you will. We feel happy! Hi friends,

It’s Fall! As I write this, I think we’re experiencing The Perfect Fall Day. High 60s. Sunny. Everyone has a pep in their step & a light sweater over their shoulders — a certain je ne sais quoi, if you will. We feel happy! If you live in the Northeast, you know that this season is short but so, so sweet! Before we know it we’ll be pulling up our boots & dusting off our cold weather gear — but let’s not think about that quite yet.

With the change in season, there’s definitely more going on in the studio! Classes are busier, and all of our private clients are back to reclaim their regular schedule. Behind the scenes, Karlee and I have been busy overseeing the build of our new website and CUSTOM booking software! You likely received an email about this yesterday, and there’s much more info to come.

Other than that, it’s been THE most hectic month of my personal life, but also business as usual! I hope to see you at our 5 year birthday party on Saturday, or in class sometime soon. Now, onto more studio updates :)

Studio Updates: What’s Happening This Month

Chair & Mixed Equipment are Back

Two clients seen from behind on Pilates chairs, each reaching one arm overhead in a side bend

We took some classes off the schedule for the slower summer season, but they’re back! We’ve also added some new ones. I would LOVE for you guys to try the chair & mixed equipment classes. They are so fun, and such a great addition to your reformer & mat practice.

Monday 8am Chair with Hannah

Monday 6:30pm Mixed Equipment with Katrina

Tuesday 6:30pm Jump Board with Ava

Wednesday 7pm Mixed Equipment with Karlee

Thursday 11am Intermediate Chair with Jessi

Reminder: TBR 5 Year Birthday Party!!!

I hope to see you on Saturday at 12pm! All of our complimenatry classes are full, but you can hop on the waitlist.

Two beaded bracelets on a wrist, one spelling TBR with a red heart and a TBR charm hanging from the cord

Just a reminder, Susan Rifkin will be there with her amazing charm bar, and a custom TBR bracelet that we designed together (pictured here — it’s incredibly cool)! Some of her new beaded collection is so cute — she’ll have it available. Karlee will have a rack of adorable, curated button downs to sell. We’ll have a signature lavender lemonade & champagne to sip, some snackies & a Mister Softee truck (on us!). We’ll also have some special gifts for those of you who have been there with us through thick & thin :)

Party starts at 12pm! See you there!

Some things I consumed/discovered/listened to this month:

A Great Thing I Read This Month:

I needed an easy, campy plane read and Local Woman Missing by Mary Kubica hit the spot. Also, this Architectural Digest piece on Gloria Steinem’s Manhattan Brownstone was so neat. She lived there for over 50 years, and it’s just as striking as she was.

A Great Thing I Watched This Month:

I downloaded Paul McCartney: Man on the Run (again for a plane ride), and it was fantastic. I absolutely love The Beatles. This was SO well done, and honestly reminded me how beautiful life is with young children (although I’m not sure that was the intended takeaway).

Great Things I Bought/Wanted To Buy This Month:

Ok, so I threw my husband an EPIC surprise 40th birthday party (at The Trestle Inn — please consider them if you’re having any sort of celebration!) & bought a fabulous outfit for that. I’m truly embarrassed to admit how much a spent on it (but I’ll send a pic if you want it!), so I didn’t shop much this month. As always, though, my wishlist is forever growing.

I did buy another pair of pants! These really brought me back to the early ‘00s. Anyone remember the fold over Hardtail pants? These from Beyond Yoga are sooo comfy, and I’ve said it before, but their Spacedye fabric is unmatched. Also — I picked up another color of these coveted pants from the Gap and they are the epitome of relaxed & casual but still put together. Also...I bought this bag from the Gap. It was on sale!!

Here are my open tabs (items I have not purchased....yet): I know this is insane, but I want this blanket sooo badly (will have to wait for a sale). I love the shape of this ring, and the price! I’m super skeptical of Quince (someone tell me if they love/hate things they’ve bought), but I like the shape of this sweater. This jacket from ASOS is very cool, and so is this one from Roucha! I can see so many outfits to wear with this top from Veronica Beard, and also obsessed with these pants from Sonderhaus, and also these ones from Donnni. One last sweater — LOVE the v-neck of this one from Sezane. Can you tell I’m itching to buy fall clothes?!

What I ‘m Playing In The Studio Right Now:

Another throwback: September Morning Coffee. I made this playlist FIVE YEARS AGO, and it still hits the spot.

That’s all I’ve got. See ya soon!

xo, Mari
