Hi friends,
How’s your summer going? These last weeks of August are always the slowest of the year for us, so I hope that means you’re all taking some time to relax with friends and family. I have a feeling that September is going to smack us right across the face this year — for me, at least — it’s going to be chaos. My son is starting at a new school, my husband turns 40 (!!!), and we’re planning a special fete to celebrate TBR turning 5 this year (don’t worry — all details are below) :). Anyway, I don’t have much to say this month, so let’s get right to it.

But! If you read my last newsletter, you might remember that a mourning dove nested in my son’s window late in July. After spending a week in Cape May, we came back to a mama bird and two little fledglings! They have all since flown away, and not a day goes by when my son doesn’t say “bye bye birdie” upon waking. I think he misses them!
**Editors Note** It’s taken me so long to write this newsletter that the mourning dove has now nested again and is currently laying her eggs! More to come next month :).
Studio Updates: What’s Happening This Month & Next
TBR 5 Year Birthday Party!!!

We’re doing it! We’re having a party! Mark your calendars: On Saturday 9/26 @12pm, we’re having a birthday party for my first baby — which has become just as special to many of you! Owning this business has brought me so much joy, and I want to thank you all for being a part of it. Here’s what you can expect:
3 FREE mat classes @ 9, 10 & 11am that morning
Custom charm jewelry with Susan Rifkin, including an exclusive TBR charm bracelet that you can make your own with colors/charms
A signature cocktail & mocktail developed by our in-house bartender, Colleen Kropp
Complimentary Mister Softee (Karlee apparently has a Mister Softee connection? Who knew!)
Special gifts for those of you who have been there with us through thick & thin
Some racks of vintage tees from one of our local 4th street neighbors
A fun hang with your favorite TBR teachers, with good music and good vibes.
The party starts at 12pm, unless you are taking class before — then, your party starts then! Many more details and reminders to come about this, but if you’d like to get a jump on signing up for a class that morning, you can do so here. They will definitely fill up.

Some things I consumed/discovered/listened to this month:
A Great Thing I Read This Month:
I’ve basically been falling sleep every night before the sun sets (try chasing after 2 very rambunctious boys in this heat and talk to me about it) & not able to read much. I’ve had A Dying Art by John Semley bookmarked all month and haven’t gotten around to reading it. It’s all about the declining industry of “restorative art” — aka making dead people look nice for open casket funerals. Sounds dark but fascinating.
Oh! Our most recent book club with author Jennifer Herrera was so fun! She has a new book, Siren Says, coming out this week & I’m excited to read it! Stay tuned for a new book club date — if we decide to dive into her new book, she’s down to come back and chat with us again.
Great Things I Bought/Wanted To Buy This Month:
Buckle up! Starting with a workout item — because this is, after all — a pilates studio newsletter :). I bought these capri pants from Beyond Yoga, and although I’m generally in loose, comfy pants to practice, I’ve been loving these. Yes, a little trendy with the “pedal pusher” length, but super practical for movement. Another item I’ve been wearing nonstop (with the capris!) is this gorgeous blue button down from Free People. Also, I found the most amazing one-piece bathing suit at KIN (duh). I couldn’t find in on their website, but here it is from Revolve (my boobs do NOT look like this when I wear it, lol). It is surprisingly modest and functional! I also bought this phone case and picked up this cutie little tank top from The Reformation sale.

Lastly, I’m going to let you in on a little antique/vintage/secondhand secret. Briggs Auction has an app that allows you to bid on all sorts of things in their live auctions! You can also do so in a web browser here. I have gotten some VERY cool things from them, one of which is this frog bird house that’s currently on display in my garden. They offer shipping for smaller items, otherwise they are located about 45 mins away in Garnet Valley. You can get vintage rugs, home decor etc. for next to nothing. Enjoy!
Here are my open tabs (items I have not purchased....yet): This sweater. I will absolutely be buying it — seems like the perfect transition piece for fall. I will also likely buy this raincoat on The Real Real (if you don’t buy it first!). Don’t these shoes look cool? A mix between a sneaker and a pointe shoe! Also, these Birkenstocks — although I will not be spending $400 on them. I absolutely don’t need another bag but I love this one by Cahu. Also found here secondhand in green. I LOVE these dishtowels (may have just bought them!). Lastly, I will absolutely be asking for the Sabine cuff from Julietta for my birthday once it’s back in stock, but I truthfully love everything from this brand. Speaking of sold out, every single bag charm/key chain from Alchmique001 is out of stock but I’m obsessed enough to keep tabs on them — I’ll let you know when they are available again!
What I ‘m Playing In The Studio Right Now:
Back to my classic Leon Bridges Radio. He just never misses for me.
That’s all I’ve got. Hasta la Pasta!
xo, Mari
